The joint works are underway between İGA and the General Directorate of Forestry-Forestation Department for the Forestation Works, which constitute one of the projects conducted under the Biodiversity Action Plan. With the Forestation Protocol being prepared, trees will be planted in the degraded or patchy natural forests, desertification and erosion combat areas, and the other suitable forestation areas in Turkey, mainly the Marmara Region. Within the scope of the works, an area of 5,000 ha is being planned to be forested. The forestation works are planned to be completed in 5 years. Also, these works are being planned so as to perform them in compliance with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and the General Directorate of Forestry Action Plan to Combat Erosion.
